Get This

Summary

• We do not create user accounts or ask you to sign up in the current build.
• Your shopping list stays on your device.
• We do not run a Get This cloud backup or list sync in the current build. Uninstalling the app (or clearing its data) removes the list from the device.
• Siri and Shortcuts may add items when you ask; Apple processes those requests under Apple’s terms, and the resulting item is stored locally in Get This.
• If you open a Get This link from Cook This Tonight (or another source), ingredient names in that link are stored on your device as list items.
• We do not use advertising or third-party analytics SDKs in the current build.
• There are no in-app purchases in the current build.

Data we process

Depending on how you use the app, the following may be involved:

• On-device shopping list — item names, quantities, check-off state, optional recipe titles, and appearance preference. These are stored locally on your device (including an App Group container so Siri can update the same list). They are not uploaded to a Get This account server, because this app does not operate one in the current build. Apple may include some app data in a full device backup according to system settings; that is outside Get This’s control and is not the same as an in-app cloud sync.
• Siri & Shortcuts — when you use voice or Shortcuts to add items, Apple processes your request. The item text is saved locally in Get This.
• Cook This Tonight handoff — if you open a getthis:// link (or equivalent) containing ingredients, those names and optional recipe titles are stored on your device. We do not receive a copy on our servers in this build.
• Website contact — if you email hello@getthistoday.co.uk or support@getthistoday.co.uk, we process the content of your message in order to reply.
• Technical data — Apple and our hosting provider may process standard technical logs as part of delivering their services. We do not run our own advertising tracker on this site in the current version.

How we use information

• To store and display your shopping list on your device.
• To let Siri and Shortcuts add items when you ask.
• To accept ingredients you choose to send from Cook This Tonight or a Get This link.
• To respond to support or feedback emails.
• To operate, secure, and improve the app and website.

Lawful basis (UK GDPR)

Where UK data protection law applies, we rely on: performing a service you request; our legitimate interests in running a reliable shopping-list utility; and, where required, compliance with law. If we ever rely on consent for a new optional feature, we will ask clearly in the app.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Data may be processed by:

• Apple — App Store distribution and Siri / Shortcuts where you use them
• Hosting providers — website hosting
• Email providers — if you contact us by email

Retention

On-device list items remain until you delete them, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Because there is no Get This cloud backup in the current build, we cannot restore a list after uninstall. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any related legal obligations.

Children

The app is a general shopping utility. It is not directed at children under 13. Do not use the app to submit personal information about a child.

Your rights

Depending on applicable law (including UK GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to data portability where it applies. Because the list lives only on your device, many requests are handled by editing or clearing the list in the app or uninstalling it. For other requests, email hello@getthistoday.co.uk.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled personal data, contact us first at hello@getthistoday.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected on this page and, where appropriate, noted in the app.
